"I've been to many studios, both here in DC as well as India and all over the west coast, and this has to be one of the most amazing studios out there! As soon as you step inside you feel that it is a real yoga community. Everyone there is incredibly friendly, and the classes are great. This place has become my own little haven."

"Studio Serenity (SS) was my third and last yoga home in DC. It was also the best and I only wish that I had discovered it sooner. Unlike many other studios that tend to suffer from a cult of personality, usually centered around the studio founder, SS focuses on providing a comfortable yoga experience for its students. They offer a variety of classes, but every class/instructor stresses correct posture and personal practice. SS became an important part of my life while I lived in DC: the smell of incense after class, the sense of community in the studio, and the true warmth and guidance of the instructors. I have recommended SS to many friends and will continue to do so!"

"I love Studio Serenity. I had never done yoga before joining the studio in February 2008, and I have been grateful for the thorough, thoughtful instruction I have received from all of the teachers. I started yoga practice at the suggestion of my doctor, and for several months I made daily Mass at Sacred Heart on 16th and daily yoga at Studio Serenity two of my main commitments to wellness. The benefits of the yoga practice were far beyond what I expected -- due significantly to the fact that the tenor of the Studio Serenity classes encouraged me to integrate my spiritual practices into the physical healing/growing process. Since coming to Studio Serenity, I have tried a couple of other yoga studios in DC, but nothing compares! If you are looking for a studio that engages the full person and promotes a sense of community among students, it is for you."

"I never realized how lucky I was to have stumbled upon studio serenity as my first studio. However, in talking to friends and family i realized what a special place it was and how fortunate I was to be able to have studio serenity for my practice. The instructors are not only adept yogis, but also talented teachers. They meet you where you are in your practice yet also find the best way to help you reach beyond. I also very much appreciate that there is just the right mix of meditation and physical elements of practice. Altogether, a real treasure...I almost never want to move because I worry about finding a studio as good!"

"My review is a little different in that I’ve been challenged by major health problems (and yes, a lack of discipline) that’s literally led to trial – along with much tribulation and error -- when it came to exercise and health. So it took inspiring teachers, attentive, supportive instruction (with a dollop of a humor) , and a welcoming community – to hook me on yoga and its benefits. That’s what Studio Serenity offers -- you can really tell that it’s run with personal devotion and care. My gratitude to the owners and staff -- you've been a tremendous help!"

"I have been a regular at Studio Serenity since it opened five years ago and have had no occasion to stray. The studio provides a warm, relaxed environment with rigorous, fun instruction on the physical and philosophical dimensions of yoga. Practicing regularly at Studio Serenity has allowed me to deepen my practice with clear guidance and the support of an even changing, ever kind community. The studio has been an indispensable source of physical, mental, and moral nourishment during my graduate studies. Serenity’s excellent teachers create a space for the cultivation of mental clarity, self discipline, and most importantly. . . play! I highly recommend the studio!"

"I have been practicing yoga for a number of years now and when I moved to DC I tried out a number of studios before choosing Studio Serenity.  At one studio they packed us in like sardines and I couldn't do half the moves without hitting my neighbor.  At another studio the beginner class I dropped in on was more like a stretching gym class than it was yoga.

What I like most about Studio Serenity (and ultimately why I chose it) is the integrity they bring to their practice.  I found true mindfulness among the instructors - they often remind students that it is more important to do a pose correctly than impressively, they perform hands on adjustments (if you want) to help you feel what the pose should feel like, and they offer challenging but rewarding class experiences for all levels without making students feel like they are inadequate or become bored."

"I decided to look up yoga studios when Krav Maga (martial art) proved to be too much for my knee! Introduced to yoga 10 years ago in grad school, it was time to get back into a -wholistic- approach to my physical & mental health & fitness. I browsed through the websites of DC area studios, and I felt an instant sense of YES,THIS IS WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR!! when I got to Studio Serenity's page.

That was two years ago. Studio Serenity is incredible! They (Katja, Ryan and all the staff) have managed to create a welcoming, friendly, safe, invigorating, empowering & EGO-FREE sanctuary that allows each individual to discover their reasons for practicing yoga. All the teachers are excellent and committed to your growth through each asana. At this point, I recognize that while I might enjoy an individual teachers approach to teaching, I have no favorites; I'm thoroughly challenged by (and thoroughly enjoy) any teachers class I take. The range of class levels, the diversity of activities offered: workshops, lectures, movies, outdoor events....you get as complete and fulfilling a mind-body-soul experience as you reach for."

I never realized how lucky i was to have stumbled upon Studio Serenity as my first studio. however, in talking to friends and family i realized what a special place it was and how fortunate I was to be able to have Studio Serenity for my practice. the instructors are not only adept yogis, but also talented teachers. "After practicing yoga in Shanghai, NYC, and the West Coast, I find Studio Serenity to be my favorite studio. I have never made as much progress in my own practice at any other studio as I did when at Studio Serenity. In addition to friendly students and instructors, there is a nice array of classes offered for all levels. If you are thinking about going - just go! You won't regret it!"

"Discovering studio serenity allowed me to fully develop a true yoga practice. the instructors are all encouraging and inspiring and have kept me coming back for almost a year and a half. The studio welcomes all abilities, but provides a challenging practice for those who desire. instructors also bring in the emotional aspects and challenges of yoga, not just the physical ones. Personally, I know that whatever stresses my day may bring, after 90 minutes in the studio i feel like a better, happier, more healthy person."

-- Mary Erin Casale

"Four years ago I decided to try yoga. I noticed a sign for Studio Serenity in the middle of Adams Morgan. Four years later, I have not felt a need to go anywhere else. The environment is friendly, welcoming and supportive. The instructors are knowledgeable and are always happy to answer questions over tea and cookies after class. And without question, I have learned much about myself mentally, physically, and spiritually through my practice."

"Studio Serenity is a beautiful sanctuary located in the midst of Adams Morgan (and DC) madness. Greeted with a warm smile and cheerful hello, I always feel welcome in this special place. The yoga classes and instructors cater for every level of yoga comfort and experience. There’sa great balance. I feel challenged and learn something new in every class, but also comfortable and relaxed. No-one is going to ask you to become a human pretzel, but you are going to sweat a bit! Studio Serenity is a place where the instructors care about teaching you not only how to develop your physical experience of yoga, but also how yoga fits into your mental and emotional life. I’m very grateful I made the leap and opened the door with the pink and purple sign that day."
